CTE Awareness Promotion

A series of radio and TV spots promoting Career and Technical Education will be running mid-May through mid-June 2006. The spots will run in all major radio markets across the state and on cable TV channels such as MTV, Spike, WTBS, ABC Family, TNT, TBS. This venture is a cooperative effort between the Departmenlt of Career and Technical Education and Bismarck State College for the benefit of high schools and 2-year postsecondary institutions across North Dakota. This project will bring a higher level of career awareness to Career and Technical Education and the technical careers that are available in North Dakota.

The spots will refer students to a website (ndtechcareers.com) where they will be able to enter their contact information and select 3 possible career choices. The individual will be told to expect more information from North Dakota 2-year postsecondary institutions about how they can prepare for a particular career. Their contact information will be entered into a database that will provide quality leads to any 2-year postsecondary institution that would like to have access to it. Our office will provide the access codes/passwords to any high school or 2-year postsecondary institution that would like it.

Click on the links below to preview the radio and TV spots. QuickTime will be needed to view the TV spot. Click on the QuickTime link to download the player.

Marketing Education - ASK Institute Exam High Achievers

Congratulations to the following thirteen students from North Dakota who were certified as HIGH ACHIEVERS in the ASK Institute Exam this year. ASK (Assessment of Skills and Knowledge) in the area of Marketing is administered and controlled by the same company that administers the ACT examinations. The ASK Certification is the National Marketing Certification.

The A*S*K Business Institute seeks to recognize those students who have demonstrated substantial knowledge of business, marketing, management, and entrepreneurship as measured by various written examinations. Although the Institute makes no claims regarding an examinee’s fitness for employability or college readiness, the exams do seek to recognize those individuals who have achieved a level of academic readiness and who have made a concerted effort to prepare themselves for careers in the business community.

High Achievers on this national assessment of skills and knowledge are those who meet or exceed specific scoring criteria on a comprehensive examination addressing industry-based performance indicators for a particular focus of business, marketing, management, and entrepreneurship. These high achievers are certified as having met the specific scoring guidelines established for each exam. These cut scores vary on the basis of input from the business sector.

Students, staff, and administration should be commended on the achievements of these students.
