On Thursday, March 28, 2024, officers from North Dakota Parole, Probation, and Pretrial Services with the assistance of members from the U.S. Marshals High Plains Fugitive Task Force, Mandan Police Department, and Metro Area Narcotics Task Force conducted a search of a Mandan probationer’s residence regarding a wanted subject.
Inside the residence, officers located a male subject from Michigan as well as several hundred suspected Fentanyl pills in a toilet. The pills were successfully collected and secured, and the male was taken into custody. The investigation is pending.
“This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of our state and local law enforcement to get this dangerous drug off the streets,” said Tom Erhardt, Parole, Probation, and Pretrial Services Director. “While our team members strive to assist supervised adults on parole and probation with resources and opportunities for change, we also recognize that there are people who continue to engage in behavior that is illegal and puts community safety at risk. When these situations arise, we engage the enforcement part of our job to using these tools to keep communities safe. We appreciate the work of our team members as well as our law enforcement partners in this dangerous work.”
Statewide in 2023, Parole, Probation, and Pretrial Services officers conducted more than 400 enforcement operations resulting in confiscation of more than 16 pounds of illegal narcotics and 37 illegally possessed firearms, as well as other prohibited items.
