Gov. Doug Burgum today announced Bismarck Parks and Recreation District (BPRD) is being recognized with the 2019 Main Street Livability for All Ages Award for its recent work to improve the quality of life for people of all ages and abilities.

The 2019 Main Street Awards honor communities that show excellence in elevating the three pillars of the Main Street Initiative: healthy, vibrant communities; smart efficient infrastructure; and 21st century workforce.

“Bismarck Parks and Recreation District has gone above and beyond to differentiate the community and improve the quality of life for the benefit of current residents and to help attract new residents,” Burgum said. “With deepest gratitude, we recognize BPRD with this award for dedication and efforts to enhance its vibrant community.”

As a leader and premier provider of public parks, programs, facilities and leisure services, BPRD has provided the city of Bismarck with the highest quality park, program, facility and event experiences for residents and visitors of all ages.

The Livability for All Ages Award recognizes a community, organization, or project that has taken steps to ensure its community can provide a high quality of life for people of all ages.

The Main Street Awards are a collaborative effort of the Office of the Governor, the North Dakota Department of Commerce and North Dakota State University Extension. A selection committee made up of agencies and partners judged the entries to make final awards.
