Gov. Doug Burgum today delivered opening remarks to kick off the first day of the Main Street ND Summit.
As keynote speaker, Burgum welcomed guests attending the three-day summit and provided a Main Street Initiative overview and accomplishments spanning the last year, including hearing directly from five communities about how their projects have aligned with the three Main Street Initiative pillars: healthy, vibrant communities; smart, efficient infrastructure; and 21st century workforce.
“For North Dakota to reach its fullest potential, every community needs to reach its fullest potential, and we’ve had another very successful year with the Main Street Initiative,” Gov. Doug Burgum said. “There are 69 communities currently participating, and our state has prospered in many ways thanks to those leading local Main Street community projects. We’re grateful for all of the tremendous community accomplishments we’ve seen over the last year, and we look forward to even more progress to improve North Dakota’s quality of life and attract and retain a 21st century workforce.”
Guests attending the day’s events also heard from keynote speakers Gil Penalosa and Christopher Zimmerman.
First lady Kathryn Helgass Burgum will kick off the second day’s events and introduce opening keynote speaker U.S. Surgeon General Vice Admiral Jerome M. Adams.
