The 2nd annual Midwest Travel Network for travel writers, bloggers and destination marketing organizations kicked off today at Rough Riders Hotel in Medora. The event runs through June 15.
More than 80 attendees are registered for the conference, which features Bill Clevlen, author of "100 Things to Do in America Before You Die," as the keynote speaker.
Conference attendees will explore the Medora area with planned visits to Theodore Roosevelt National Park, Chateau de Mores Historic Site, the Medora Musical and a sunset photography tour of Roosevelt’s Elkhorn Ranch. Pre and post media tours are also taking place throughout the state.
“The 2019 Midwest Travel Network Conference is a great opportunity to showcase our travel destinations, vibrant communities and authentic experiences,” North Dakota Department of Commerce Communications Manager Kim Schmidt said.
Over the next three days, the conference will feature breakout sessions for writers and bloggers and sessions for convention and visitor bureaus. Training sessions will identify ways bloggers and organizations can improve their coverage of Midwest tourist attractions.
“We look forward to welcoming a host of national and regional bloggers and writers to North Dakota for the first time,” Midwest Travel Network co-owner Lisa Trudell said.
