The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality (NDDEQ) awarded three loans for water projects to three entities through the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) Program in the first quarter of 2022.
- Elgin received a $340,000 DWSRF loan towards the replacement of three blocks of asbestos cement pipe with a new PVC watermain. This project will improve system reliability for customers.
- McLean Sheridan Rural Water District was awarded a $1,015,000 DWSRF loan towards the construction of an elevated water storage tank for the district and the City of McClusky. This will provide both public water systems with additional drinking water storage and help ensure that safe drinking water is available for the systems.
- Wing received a $2,337,000 DWSRF loan towards a water main replacement project plus replacement of the chemical feed building and water tower upgrades. These projects will allow the city to provide higher quality drinking water for residents.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency provides part of the DWSRF Program funding, which offers below-market interest rate loans to political subdivisions for financing projects authorized under the Safe Drinking Water Act. DWSRF programs operate nationwide to provide funding to maintain and improve the infrastructure that protects our vital water resources.
Loans are awarded to projects listed on the NDDEQ project priority list based on project eligibility and repayment ability. Please contact the NDDEQ at ndsrf@nd.gov regarding specific detail on any of the projects mentioned above.
