North Dakota’s Community Service Block Grant (CSBG) program within the North Dakota Department of Commerce has launched a statewide needs assessment survey. The public is invited to participate in the survey and provide input on needs specific to their own communities.

"We value the input from our local communities and results from this survey will help us better determine the services needed throughout the state,” said Commerce Community Services Director Maria Effertz.

Survey results will help the state’s community action agencies design programming based on the assessment of needs, currently available services, and locally available public and private resources. The survey will be open for public responses through June 30, 2023 and can be found at https://ndgov.link/NDCommunitySurvey or accessed via QR codes promoted by local community action agencies.

The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Program's primary purpose is to assist communities in implementing locally designed anti-poverty programs. The CSBG Program, through the state's seven Community Action Agencies (CAAs), provide various services, including emergency assistance, money management and housing counseling, self-sufficiency services, case management and outreach and referral services to low-income households and persons within their respective regions.

The CSBG Program is also closely integrated with the low-income weatherization assistance program and various other programs that serve low-income residents.
