POWERING PROGRESS
North Dakota is a powerhouse of energy, blessed with abundant natural resources and a business-friendly environment that fuels our state's dominance in production. We're not just keeping the lights on at home; over 90% of our oil, 82% of our natural gas, and half of our electricity are exported, serving communities beyond our borders.
But we're not resting on our laurels. While steadily increasing production, we're also committed to diversifying our energy mix. In 2023, 40% of our electricity came from renewable sources, proving that clean energy and economic growth can go hand-in-hand. And our baseload generation remains reliable, ensuring stable power for our region.
This dedication to progress is evident in the comprehensive energy strategy implemented by our Governor and Legislature. Initiatives like combining value-added agriculture with renewable energy resources show our commitment to both feeding and fueling the world sustainably. We even see carbon dioxide, often viewed as a challenge, as an opportunity. Through innovative utilization and storage technologies, we aim to neutralize our carbon footprint, setting an example for responsible energy development.
North Dakota chooses innovation over regulation to ensure our residents enjoy a high quality of life. As we move forward, our energy production will evolve to encompass valuable commodities across diverse sectors, reducing our reliance on foreign markets and providing our region with efficient, sustainable products.
