Gov. Kelly Armstrong released the following statement on the passing of former President Jimmy Carter, who died Sunday, Dec. 29, at the age of 100.
“President Jimmy Carter’s service to our nation extended well beyond the White House, as he became known for his post-presidency work on human rights and international diplomacy, winning the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002,” Armstrong said. “Kjersti and I extend our prayers and deepest sympathies to his family, friends and former colleagues.”
All U.S. and North Dakota flags are to be flown at half-staff pursuant to U.S. Code (4 U.S.C. 7m), which states the flag shall be flown at half-staff for 30 days from the death of a president or former president.
