Lt. Gov. Brent Sanford, state and federal leaders, advocates and community members met to highlight North Dakota’s efforts to ensure a complete and accurate census count.

Lt. Gov. Brent Sanford today presented HB1018, a $33 million investment in UAS technology and infrastructure in the state, at the Northern Plains UAS Test Site. This includes $28 million in funding for a statewide network that will support UAS (drone) flights beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS). An additional $2 million of this funding will provide continued support of test site operations. The remaining $3 million will be used to upgrade infrastructure at Grand Sky UAS Flight Center.

Gov. Doug Burgum, in partnership with the North Dakota Department of Commerce, today announced a $33 million investment in the UAS industry – of which a majority will be used to build out infrastructure to support beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) operations for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) across North Dakota.

State legislators who voted to create a $50 million endowment for the proposed Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum joined Gov. Doug Burgum today as he signed the bill into law and thanked the assembly, calling it “a historic piece of legislation that’s going to be transformational.”

“This bill represents a strong commitment by the State of North Dakota to make major investments in water supply and flood control projects, including $82.5 million for Mouse River flood control in the Minot area and $66.5 million for Fargo-area flood control including the Fargo-Moorhead Area Diversion Project,” Burgum said. “Citizens across North Dakota will benefit from these investments through clean, reliable drinking water supplies and the protection of lives, property and livelihoods from catastrophic flooding.”
