Gov. Doug Burgum has directed all government agencies to fly the United States and North Dakota flags at half-staff until sunset Monday, Aug. 30, and encourages North Dakotans to do the same at their homes and businesses, in honor and remembrance of the U.S. servicemembers and other victims killed in the terrorist attack on Thursday, Aug. 26, in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Gov. Doug Burgum and Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring announced today that the North Dakota Emergency Commission has approved $2.5 million to reactivate the Emergency Feed Transportation Assistance Program to help reimburse a portion of hay transportation expenses for eligible livestock producers who have lost feed supplies due to drought.

The North Dakota Department of Health (NDDoH) has partnered with agency KK Bold to develop an outreach effort for the citizens of North Dakota. This effort, referred to as the North Dakota COVID-19 Impact Wall, features a collection of stories about North Dakotans impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and will be promoted in a statewide campaign in the weeks to come.

Gov. Doug Burgum today issued the following statement in response to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approving the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for COVID-19 for ages 16 and up. The vaccine continues to be available under emergency use authorization for those ages 12 to 15.

Canada reopened its border to vaccinated U.S. citizens for nonessential travel on Aug. 9.

Doug Burgum today issued the following statement after Marathon Petroleum Corp. and ADM announced that Marathon will invest in ADM’s recently announced $350 million soybean processing plant at Spiritwood, N.D. The soybean crushing plant will provide soybean oil exclusively to Marathon’s renewable diesel facility in Dickinson.
